I’m a writer and photographer living in New York City. Greetings and salutations.
I started this blog in March 2011. I was living in San Francisco and working as a private writing tutor after a decade of teaching creative and expository writing at places like NYU, Stanford, and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. I was (obviously) ready for something new. Over the course of my job search, I managed to get the head of a trend forecasting company to do an informational interview with me. She told me that I had two options: To work as an intern for $7 an hour (which hardly seemed to justify a cross-country move) or start a successful blog. The latter sounded more realistic for some reason.
Since then, many things have happened. I’ve had 25 streetstyle photos published on the New York Times website. My iPhone photographs were shown in group shows at the Hipstamatic offices in San Francisco and at RGB Gallery, also in San Francisco. In June 2012 I put my stuff in storage and came to New York to start a company that provides original written and visual content (a picture may be worth a thousand words, but why limit yourself to only a thousand words?) for brands looking to change up the way they think about and use their social media.
If that sounds like you, please contact me at thestyley@gmail.com to talk about making beautiful music together. If that doesn’t sound like you, but you feel like saying what’s up, well, that’s awesome too.
Kate
