Styley People: Nelson Mandela
According to Orson Welles, “Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.” Agreed. And here at The Styley, when we talk about style we’re not just talking about clothes, we’re talking about the way you live your life. Style is about being courageous, being honest, being loving, being appreciative, being grateful, being strong. Style is about crying at movies. It’s about standing up for what you believe in, even if what you believe in is the right to use chintz on every single surface of your house, rocking stripes with plaids, or wearing flip flops with a leather vest, as per the photo above.
Today we’re going to take a minute to pay homage to Nelson Mandela, who needs no introduction. Mr. Mandela passed away yesterday, and I think it’s safe to say that he’s a person who left the world a better place than he found it. As far as style is concerned, we could all take a page from his book, the story of which is founded on the kind of strength of character that all true leaders have, regardless of their fields. Thank you, Mr. Mandela, for being a source of strength and inspiration for all of us.
