Styley Events: Mexican Summer Five-Year Music Festival
So, I spent Saturday afternoon and part of the evening shooting the Mexican Summer Five-Year Music Festival for Refinery 29. (You can check out the finished piece here.) Many things about this course of events were awesome, including the following facts:
- Pioneer Works, in Red Hook, was the venue. Even though getting to Red Hook seems to involve traveling over the river (literally) and through the woods (not so much), I love going there. Plus, Pioneer Works is an awesome place whose mission is: "to present and promote arts and science through exhibitions, residencies, classes, lectures, performing arts, screenings, community events, publications and more." So cool.
- Spiritualized, a band I've loved since college played on Saturday night.
- I discovered a record label I hadn't been familiar with as well as a host of music. And I love discoveries.

In the event that you would like to know more about Mexican Summer (and you should both want to learn more and learn more), check out their website, where they are selling a book that comes out at the end of the year.
