Freud said there are no coincidence. Why that may be true, I still think it's interesting that I had brunch at Hearth on Sunday and then read about Marco Canora, the chef/owner, in Food and Wine…

Kerri Lee Ross is a beauty and wellness PR consultant based in Venice, CA. We met over Moon Juice (one of her clients, which is how I found her) to talk about California vs. New York, taking leaps of faith,…

I spent the weekend binge-watching Scandal and eating Entenmann's doughnut holes. Okay, that might be an exaggeration, but I did do both of those at certain points during the weekend, and I fully enjoyed…

I met Tracy Timmons while waiting in line at The Butcher's Daughter takeout shop, where I was buying myself some Fire Cider for this post.…

I'm a little grumpy today, despite the momentary excitement of dropping off my laundry at the organic wash-and-fold down the street for the first time. It's cold--I'm wearing two coats most days--and…

The first time I ate at Prune, many years ago, I was in graduate school, slightly older than just out of college but not by much. Part of my graduate school existence…

And so I moved. Downtown. To Nolita, one of my favorite Manhattan neighborhoods, and where I already spent most of my time drinking coffee and working in the places that sold me said coffee. Although I'd…

So, Saturday afternoon I decided to go to a pop-up shop in Brooklyn. I thought it was in Williamsburg, but that's only because I had to take the L to get there, and to me, the L means Williamsburg.

So last week was incredibly exciting. And tiring. And inspiring. And overwhelming. And fun. I don't know if you've ever been lucky enough to do work that you absolutely love, but my project with Anthropologie…

I have no idea whose idea it was to put skirts on the agenda for this fall, but someone did, and I hope that person is laughing all the way to the bank. In my work with Anthropologie this week, I'm on the…

Despite never having a date, I enjoy weddings, probably because they involve finger food and dancing. I also like an excuse for buying a new dress, although let's face it, I like an excuse to spend money…

Is Mercury in retrograde right now? What else would explain the weird shit that's been happening to me this month? I have now gone from zero fashion shows in two decades to two fashion shows in two days.…

According to Orson Welles, “Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.” Agreed. And here at The Styley, when we talk about style we’re not just talking about…

Three cheers to Stacy Engman for her jeweled headband, pigtails, and ginormously awesome cocktail ring. I took this photograph at the Creative Time Fall Ball on Tuesday night. I've noticed Stacy at events before, and frequently admired the way she manages to look like a chic Queen of the Fairies. She seems like the kind of person for whom the word "bedecked" was invented. Turns out she's extremely nice, charming, and patient with photographers who are having drinks spilled on them and whose equipment is being jostled by revelers.

I was watching Oliver Stone's The Doors the first time I heard the song "Venus in Furs." At the time, I was in love with Jim Morrison and would have done anything to go back in time to marry him and have deep intellectual conversations about Neitzche and suffering, rushed up my spine and the jingle-jangle of the guitars got into my nerve endings, and I was hooked. I was tired, I was weary, and I could sleep for a thousand years.

As a person who takes pictures of people and posts them on social media, I was really interested in Jenna Wortham's piece on selfies in yesterday's Times. If you read my blog or follow my Instagram feed, you may have noticed that I don't post pictures of myself. And I'm starting to wonder if that's a mistake.

So, I spent Saturday afternoon and part of the evening shooting the Mexican Summer Five-Year Music Festival for Refinery 29. (You can check out the finished piece here.) Many things about this course of events were awesome, including the following facts:

What drew me to Rosie wasn't the sunglasses, as fabulous as they are, it was the combination of her pale skin and her bright red lipstick. I guess I'm just a sucker for a red lip, and this particular orange-inflected shade is one I simply can't wear. And while we're on the topic of red lips, I'll just say that my two favorites right now are Benefit's "Frenched" (which appears to no longer exist, much to my great dismay, so the link is to a product that looks similar--"Flirt Alert" is the one you want) and Lipstick Queen's "Red Sinner" with a coating of Burt's Bees lip balm with pomegranate oil underneath and over. "Red Sinner" also looks great with Lipstick Queen's "Medieval" on top. "Medieval" is also a great light red for day, in case you want to rock red but don't feel like going all the way during the daylight hours.
