The Styley

The Styley develops editorial strategy and original online and mobile content that makes your current and potential consumers feel the way I do about the movie The Ghostwriter: breathless with anticipation, awed by the lyrical beauty of the visuals, and dying to see what comes next. If your content stands out, your brand will too.

For me, content isn’t just king, it’s the whole royal family. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but if you add 1,000 words to that picture, you have 2,000 words with which to express yourself. You’ve doubled your potential impact. And as the new AT&T ad says, “More is better.”

Of course, sometimes more is just more. That’s never a good idea. What is a good idea, however, is designing and producing editorial content that inspires consumers to engage with your brand on a personal level. I’m talking about content that’s highly intentional, tailored to fit the content distribution platform where it appears. You need to tell a great story and build a thriving community around that story. And I can help you do that.

    Today's red-eye contains @califiafarms almond milk and comes from @twohandsnyc. I probably should have gotten two. #coffeeeee #nyc #fromwhereistand

  • Styleygram:

Started the day off on a (sugar) high with hot chocolate from @burdickchocolate, some of the best I've ever had. They've got a pretty mean croissant too. And @natasha_mcirvin's company was outstanding. #eeeeeats #nyc

  • Styleygram:

Today on the blog (link in profile): I eat @entenmanns doughnut holes, watch Scandal and dream of @moonjuiceshop. #eeeeeats #losangeles

  • Styleygram:

I'm on a big red eye (drip coffee with a shot or shots of espresso) kick. This one has two shots, and it's from @eggshopnyc. Maybe it was a delusion brought on by caffeine, but I certainly felt more productive after drinking it. #coffeeeee #nyc

  • Styleygram:

Why is my oatmeal purple? Because it's punk rock, and because I added frozen berries from @wholefoodsmarket. #eeeeeats #foodporn

Today's massive copywriting spree was fueled by a dirty chai and a strawberry scone @whynotcoffeeorchard. #eeeeeats

Me, Myself and I

Kate Seward

Writer, photographer and content strategist.

I’m an ex-academic turned content strategist and producer. After many of years of teaching undergraduates at New York University, Stanford University, the University of San Francisco and San Francisco State, I worked as a writing coach for private clients and for students at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

In 2011, I started a streetstyle blog called The Styley. Since then I have had three dozen images appear on the New York Times’ online styles page, and I’ve shown my iPhone work at the Haus of Hipstamatic and RGB Gallery in San Francisco. I have produced Instagram campaigns, blogs, brand books, briefs and website copy and images for a diverse group of companies and brands, including Anthropologie, Gilt Groupe, Palmolive, Speed Stick, Commune Hotels and Resorts, Joie de Vivre Hotels, Geolo Capital, Beyond Vintage, Lipstick Queen, PANYL, SKAGGS, Union Square Events, SKYN Iceland, the Lisa and John Pritzker Family Fund, Refinery 29, Art in America, Nowfashion and The Partners.
