SF Diary #2: The Fear Project

The Fear Project book launch

In case the lack of action on the blog didn’t make it clear, my trip to west was somewhat of a whirlwind. I think I had something to do every single minute of every day. When I got back last night I felt like I barely knew my ass from my elbow, which came in handy today, because I was too out of it to be annoyed by the rain.

While in SF I went to the book launch for The Fear Project, my friend Jaimal Yogis’ new book about, well, facing your fears. It started with him wanting to surf mavericks (hence the photo, which I took at Ocean Beach, pretty close to where he lives) and ended with him falling in love, getting married, and having a baby. And of course there’s a lot of cool science and other stuff in between.

What are some fears you have faced? What are some fears you’re facing now?

Great shot! When I lived in Mexico, I really enjoyed photographing surfers. I would email the photos to all the locals; they loved it! The best one was of my friend, Diego, doing a handstand while riding a wave. Incredible!

I think I’m most afraid of failure. And disappointing people I care about. It’s something I face every day and have for as long as I can remember.

It was SO GOOD to see you while you were in SF!
