So, you mentioned that you’re from South Africa, and that you’re a student. Where are you a student?

At Marymount Manhattan College.

What are you studying?

Psychology, business and communications.

What’s been the biggest change for you since moving from South Africa?

I have no idea. I lived in China too. It was a much easier transition coming here. I think I expected more, and then it was so easy fitting in I felt more relief than anything else.

What’s your favorite thing about living in New York?

Fashion and all of the opportunities in that field.

Is that what you want to do when you finish school?

Yes. I’m interning at Stella McCartney right now.

Is that so fun?

It is. It has really been such a great experience. I’ve learned so much–it’s awesome.

And why that brand? What is it aesthetically that drew you to her?

I like her use of lace, and all of her layers. It’s very feminine, but sophisticated at the same time.

So, streamlined as opposed to girly?

Yes, exactly.

What have you read recently that’s good?

Fifty Shades of Grey. It just draws you in when you read it. Once you start you can’t stop.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

Just be yourself no matter what anyone else does.

If you had a life philosophy, what would it be?

It’s easy to dream, but you need to make it come true.
