Yesterday marked one week in New York. And while I’m glad overall that I decided to move–I know it was the right thing to do–getting settled isn’t easy. I have to establish a new routine. I have to organize my living space. Every time I put something down I seem to lose track of it, which results in much hunting around and frustration later. At the end of my time in San Francisco, I felt like I had completed a phase of my life, like I was graduating, and now I’m starting over. It’s disorienting.
That said, I love the energy of the city. I love how you don’t think about whether or not to walk someplace–of course you walk! I love how I want to photograph people all over the place, although I find that I’m a little intimidated to do so, another challenge that I’ll have to overcome (stay tuned for more thoughts on this process). And finally, I’m loving the weather. San Francisco’s summers are cold, and there’s nothing that resembles the warm, soft summer rain that you find on the East Coast. Delicious.
