What do you do?

I run a website, Bureau of Trade.

What is it?

It’s a shopping and discovery experience for men of discriminating taste, to help them present and complete a more compelling portrait of success, either a reflection of who they are today, or someday aspire to be.

Is that the party line, or are those your words for it?

That is precisely my description for what it is.

Excellent. Okay, so, sunglasses?

Persol, foldable.

Flower?

From South Korea, a shopping trip in December.

Scarf?

My mother’s closet.

Nice. Pocket square?

Gucci, from the 1970s.

Excellent seersucker jacket?

Handmade in New York for me, with its own lining, old men’s fashion label that I used to run, called Gytha Mander.

You are a gem!

(He laughs.)

Okay. Shoes?

Paul Smith, suede, drip-dyed brogues.

Jeans?

Uniqlo, if you can believe it.

I can believe it. I’ll believe anything.
