This outfit is pure prep perfection. I was standing in line at Peet’s about to pay for a coffee when I spotted this young man. To the barista I said, “I’m so sorry, but I’ll be right back,” and literally ran out the door to take the picture. The barista was probably horrified–later, I apologize profusely–and the young man was slightly confused by what I wanted from him. I don’t know if he realized the genius of his tennis sweater/gingham button-down/vaguely military-influenced blazer, but I did. And now you can too.
This weekend was a wild one on the photography front. I did buy my new camera, a Fuji X10, and took it out for a spin. What do you think? The photo above is one of its by-products, as is the other photo in the NYT.com spread. Feedback, feedback, feedback. Give it to me, people.

I spent Sunday morning at the Alameda flea market, shooting my ass off. I couldn’t resist these creepers (I’ve been seeing them on the street lately; might be time for a post) and the rockabilly-inspired hair. This is a great look, but it’s low-key. It doesn’t scream, “CHECK OUT MY STYLE.” It just is, and you can dig it or not. I dig it.
In other news: Thanks to these handsome dudes I made it into the NYT.com’s “Best of Readers’ Streetstyle” slideshow not once, but twice! Check out the full story here–there are lots of lovely people whose outfits you will enjoy.
