Remember My Styley Friend? The feature that seemed to have gone aground? Well, it’s a new year, and the feature is back! First up is my friend Will Georgantas, who I’ve known since the dawn of time…also known as my third day of college.
Will is a musician and writer, founder and leader singer of the band Thunderegg (check out their site here). He’s very talented, and if you don’t believe me, you can come see him for yourself next Monday, March 5, at Osteria, 3277 Sacramento @ Presidio. He’s performing with Tiny Home and John Elliott. Tell him you read about it on The Styley and you’ll get a special gift. Yup. That’s what the man said.
Will likes pencils.
And other interesting stuff.
And now for Will in his own words.
TS: Who are you and what do you do?
WG: I am Will. Some people just call me Thunderegg (N.B.: Will plays all the instruments on most of the Thunderegg recordings, and he writes all the songs). I’ve been writing songs since the early nineties. There are now hundreds of them. I usually record them on an old four-track cassette recorder. So if you listen to my music, you can close your eyes and pretend it’s 1995.
TS: If you had a personal mantra, what would it be?
WG: Don’t worry, we’re in no hurry. School’s out: What did you expect?
TS: What inspires you?
WG: Artists, particularly musicians, who are prolific: Bob Dylan free-associating over magazine clippings to write Blonde on Blonde, or Robert Pollard out in his backyard with a pot of coffee and a list of song titles, then coming back inside with ten new songs and cracking a beer.
TS: What would you do if you were not afraid?
WG: Probably fail, and realize it’s not that big a deal. Being afraid of messing up is the fastest way to get nothing done.
Get something done. Come hang with us at Osteria next Monday. Should be fun.
