Streetstyle: Outside Lands, part 2

Going through my photos from Outside Lands, I began to feel a bit of nostalgia. I honestly can’t remember the last time I went to a music festival. I’m not sure what that says about me. But I do remember the first few times (sort of) I went to music festivals, and so today, I bring you a bit of 90s-inspired fashion.

Paige Redman: Nothing says outdoor concert like a Bud T-shirt and a fringed bag.

In college, a friend of mine used to say, “Budweiser: the king of beer, and the beer of kings.” So that’s what I thought of when I saw Paige, and it made me laugh. Plus, I loved her fringed bag and Navajo-ish sweater (I feel an obsession coming on).

Emily Laszlo-Rath: Alexa Chung meets Kate Moss in her Calvin Klein days.

I don’t know if you’ve seen the Mario Testino photographs of Kate Moss’s wedding to Jamie Hince, but they are incandescent. Testino is an incredible photographer, and Kate, well, how could you do any better than having her as a muse? Anyway, there was something about Emily’s wistfulness and daintiness (not to mention her sweet shades) that brought to mind Kate in the early days of her career. And Emily does the grunge thing up right by mixing a pretty flowered sundress with a fringed necklace (yes, I love fringe) and leggings with a hole in the knee.

In the event that you missed the newsflash, one of my streetstyle photos made it onto the New York Times style page on Monday. Click here to see the story (it’s the one about polka dots). My picture is slide #4. And yes, I am beside myself with joy.

I think the last time I went to a festival was Woodstock in the 90′s. When they started flipping cars, I promptly exited and can say I haven’t thought twice about another festival. I mean the mud I could survive in, but the cars? Really?
