Streetstyle: Outside Lands, premiere partie

Outside Lands was this past weekend, so Saturday afternoon I headed out to Golden Gate Park with my camera. What awaited me was much less of a mob scene than I expected, but maybe that’s because I wasn’t actually trying to see bands. During the course of the two hours that I was there, I realized my wardrobe lacks a pair of attractive but comfortable sneakers. I’m thinking white Chuck Taylor or Superegas, unless some other options present themselves. Thoughts?

While you’re chewing on that question, meet Cali Polanco.

The lace shirt is a nod to summer, while the jacket addresses the frigid reality of that particular season here in San Francisco.

I loved the mix of textures and styles in Cali’s outfit: the cropped jacket that’s vaguely reminiscent of Chanel, the lace T-shirt, the jean skirt, the scuffed black boots. Lady-like, quirky, and comfortable. Practical, too. Denim is good for keeping one’s bootay dry when sitting on damp grass.

And now for something completely different. Say hello to Sandy Pattison.

Just say YES to color-blocking.

Okay, so it’s not completely different. Like Cali, Sandy is rocking the whole black lace-up ankle boot thing. And they’re both wearing mini-skirts. But Sandy is taking color-blocking to the next level–even her gorgeous hair adds an extra shade to the mix.

Stay tuned for more festival streetstyle. Believe me when I tell you there’s plenty more where these came from. While you’re waiting, check out Picture Book, my photojournal on Tumblr. You can also click on the links to the right.
