Shopgirl style: Tara Selleck

Being in an LA frame of mind has me re-reading my beloved Bret Easton Ellis, starting with Imperial Bedrooms, the book I know the least. I just love Ellis’ writing style; it’s so spare and cool. At the same time, the cadence of the sentences is filled with urgency–I can’t put his books down.

And now, for more LA style.

Try telling me you now don't want a pair of burnt-orange velvet gym shorts. I don't believe it for a second.

I spotted Tara Selleck at the Planet Blue store on Main Street in Venice, one of my friend Sarah’s favorite stores. While there, I found myself lusting after a red Elizabeth and James dress:

Apparently the whole world also wants this dress, because it's sold out on the Planet Blue website. Image from www.planetblue.com.

Unfortunately, budget constraints made it impossible for me to indulge. But a girl can dream, right?

A black hat, wishbone necklace and sweet black ballet flats totally pull this outfit together.
