Streetstyle: the ladies of Mira Mira

A lazy Sunday wandering around the Mission led me through the doors of Mira Mira, an adorable boutique on 22nd Street, next door to Latin American Club. The excellent location means that you can hit two birds with one stone: drinks and shopping, or shopping and drinks. If you decide to have the drink first, be careful: you may end up buying everything in the store. Seriously.

After browsing the racks and chatting a bit with Mira Pickett, owner of Mira Mira, and her colleague Tara Morgan, I realized that Mira and Tara are the store’s best advertisement. See for yourself:

Mira Pickett, owner of Mira Mira

Dress: BCBG. Boots: Frye. Short necklace: Rossmore. Long necklace: she made it herself. How cool.

The boots, the dress, the hair, the necklaces–I love it all! And yet there’s more:

So good: lots of bracelets and a big ring.

Silver bracelet: BingBang by Anna Sheffield. Seed beads by Mira herself.

And if that’s not enough style for you, check out Tara:

Sleeves like angel wings.

Dress: Not Dead. White tee: Continum. (Dress and tee available at Mira Mira.) Pants: American Apparel. Boots: Swedish Hasbeens. Necklace: gift from Tara’s brother.

Mira’s style inspirations include the 70s, Kate Lamphear (Style Director of Elle), and Stylenik favorite Emmanuelle Alt, Editor-in-Chief at French Vogue). For Mira, “Comfort is #1. I love easy-breezy clothes, stuff that moves easily from day to night. Sexy simple.” Tara, who has a degree in fashion design and is a visual merchandiser in addition to working at Mira Mira, isn’t sure where her style comes from. “I just play,” she told me. A fortune cookie Tara received the day before we met read, good clothes open many doors. “I like that a lot,” she said. Me too.

Thanks KP! I, too, love that shirt. A blousy sleeve and a long necklace always looks great
